Tory-Lib Dem cuts will devastate local services

The recent budget has thrown light on the ideological and potentially dangerous economic policy the Tories have managed to get the Lib Dems to accept. The cuts were reckless: too much, too soon and Treasury figures now say that this budget will mean the loss of approximately 1.3 million jobs across both public and private sectors that is the equivalent to putting more that the whole of Birmingham out of work. We believe that it puts us at risk of another recession and many renowned economists now share that view.

Ross & Tom with the Love Where You Live Group

Ross said “We collected 13 bags of rubbish in total  - plus a traffic barrier, a traffic cone and a large number of glass.”

Tom Neilson, Parish Councillor and local campaigner said "Measham is a beautiful village and it is really great to see people in the local community coming together to keep it that way. Having said tha,t it is shameful that there was so much litter on the roadside on the entrance to Measham, those who drop the litter need to stop and think about the affect it has on our environment and the reputation of Measham before they throw something away."

Bus Stop Eyesore Print E-mail

Tom Neilson by the offending bin and bench

Opposite The Swan pub is a wonderful bus stop, that has been there for about 2 years. Next to it is an area which has been neglected, it seems, for over 20 years. The benches made from concrete are relics from the past which have not stood the test of time. Dangerous bolts are sticking out where a piece of the seat has been broken and it really brings down the appearance of the area. Add to that the concrete boxes that used to be bins, they are also dangerous and are not even good as bins anymore...

This forgotton landscape needs to be re-invigourated as soon as possible, not only does it act as an eyesore in our village but it is also a safety hazard for the many school kids that gather there in the mornings while waiting for the bus.

Tom Neilson reports

Measham has been witness to kids dangerously disrupting traffic and pedestrians on High Street, breaking shop windows and drinking on our streets and parks. With the summer upon us it is likely to increase unless action is taken to tackle it.
